Smokey’s Auto Service is owned and operated by Darrin Howitt, Licensed Automotive Technician since 1988.

Darrin (Smokey) has followed in his father, Ray’s, footsteps since his early teens. Darrin started out pumping gas at his father’s Texaco station at the age 14 and got the automotive technician bug soon after. Considering Ray as “the best damn mechanic he has ever known” Darrin then worked for his father’s business Auto Tune Milton for 23 years.

When his father retired in 2014 Darrin wanted to continue the family business but could not find a suitable location. In the five years since Auto Tune closed, Darrin continued to service his long time customers at J&D Tire and Auto.

In October 2019 Unit #10 at 555 Main St became available which Darrin purchased to pursue his dream of owning his own auto repair service business and to keep servicing his loyal customers and friends. His service motto being that he services your car or truck like he is servicing his own vehicle. Darrin’s dream became a reality on March 4, 2020 when he obtained the keys to the building and Smokey’s Auto Service was born.

The shop officially opened April 13, 2020 with his eagerness to continue to service all past customers and many new ones for years to come.
